Neeskens vows to fight on

The Brazilians could only pick up a point in a dull goalless draw with Tshwane rivals SuperSport United, leaving them down in 14th place in the standings with only four points from their five matches so far.

Some reports suggest that Neeskens has been given two matches to save his job, but the Dutchman is playing it cool.

“I know I can handle any pressure,” he says. “I can handle the pressure as long as everybody in the team can also handle the pressure.”

Despite the poor performance from both sides at the Lucas Moripe Stadium last night, Neeskens still took some positives out of the game.

“We tried our best and overall we had the better chances to win the game,” he adds. “I was happy with the commitment shown by the players; they fought hard and worked for each other. We were unfortunate not to score, but I am hopeful in the next match we will score goals.”

Neeskens also praised his new defender Alje Schut for his Man of the Match performance, saying: “He can pass and reads the game very well. He is also good in the air. I was happy with his performance.”

Sundowns’ next match is away to MTN8 Champions Moroka Swallows on Sunday.
