Maimane, a goalkeeper with Witbank Aces during his hey day, had been acting as caretaker coach at Spurs. He will now take up the role as goalkeeper coach at Aces.
The arrival of Simon Ngomane as technical advisor at struggling Spurs also led to Maimane making the move. He says he felt unwanted thus his decision to move across town.
“We have never had a proper goalkeeper coach,” says Aces’ spokesman Thabo Moroape.
“Mahala brings the kind of experience that we have always wanted in this team. He has agreed to work with us until the end of the season and has been given an option to renew his contract.
“We hope his expertise will help lift the club where he spent a considerable time during his playing days.”
George Soko, who has been acting as goalkeeper coach, has taken the post of team manager following the departure of Thethe Mogotsi.
