Chiefs lose out to rule 8.14

In simple terms, the match is a new encounter since there were no dismissals 32 minutes into the first half, when it was abandoned after the pitch was covered in hail and therefore deemed unsafe and unplayable.

Chiefs were leading 2-0 at the time through goals by Bernard Parker and Kingston Nkhatha, but all that will count for nothing as Rule 8.14 now kicks in.

"According to Rule 8.14 of the National Soccer League Rules, if a match is abandoned through weather or the state of the pitch, the League will set another date on which the match will be played," the PSL confirms in a statement.

"All records of an abandoned match will be expunged except dismissals incurred."

The fixture will be replayed on Wednesday, September 19, at 8.15pm, at the same venue.
