Orlando Pirates have emerged as hot favourites to win the league after beating Black Leopards 2-0 at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday to extend their lead to three points at the top.
SuperSport trail Pirates by eight points with two games in hand and Tembo believes his team is still in contention to win the league this season.
"It's still five or six teams running for the league, it's about six points' difference," said Tembo.
"For us it's important to focus on our games and collect points as many points as we can because it's critical at this stage of the season," he added.
Matsatsantsa are set to be back in action this weekend when they host Polokwane City at Lucas Moripe Stadium after being inactive for more than three weeks.
Tembo's side are then set to meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the Tshwane Derby at Loftus Stadium next week Wednesday.
"It's been frustrating [not playing] in terms of planning because if you are not playing you make sure you organise friendly games so that players stay active, and we have done that," Tembo added.
"It also gave an advantage to players who were on the brink of breaking because of so many games, players needed to recover. We will see during the game [against Polokwane City] if it was a disadvantage or it helped us."
