The Brazilians, who are currently in 9th position, have lost three games in succession including a cup final and the media has suggested that club president Patrice Motsepe is not happy with the results and that Igesund could soon follow former executive director Afzal Khan from the club.
_quote Speaking to KickOff.com after his team’s 3-2 defeat by Supersport United at Loftus Stadium on Saturday, Igesund says he still believes that he has the full backing of Motsepe and still wants to achieve his ambition of keeping Mamelodi Sundowns as the top team in the country.
“The president has mentioned before that he is still fully behind me. I am not afraid of those reports by certain journalists that say my job at Sundowns is not safe.
“We are presently going through a bad patch, but I am confident that we will soon turn the corner. We have also had some bad luck as was evidenced during the game against Supersport United when we missed four clear-cut chances.
“We have conceded some soft goals. I am going to sit down with my players this week and try to rectify these mistakes.
“I am sure in our next game against Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday there will be a much improved performance from the players.”
