Huge incentives for Spain players

News

The players and technical staff all have this incentive to play for, which is 20 percent higher than in 2010, according to AS.

If Spain make it through the first knockout round this year, the players and staff will receive €72 000, while for a semi-final appearance the bonus will be €180 000. A final appearance and they will each receive €360 000.

The Spanish Royal Football Federation (RFEF) met with player representatives Iker Casillas and Xavi Hernandez to decide the bonus structure, with RFEF secretary general Jorge Perez and the director of the national team, Maria Jose Claramunt, also in attendance.

The financial incentives are the highest on offer from any nation at this year's World Cup. Brazil, the tournament hosts, are offering €330 000 to their players. Germany's squad would each receive €300 000.
