Host city upgrades its fire department

Councillor Mahlubi Biyana said the Directorate was hoping to deliver a quicker and more efficient service to the city’s residents.

And Safety and Security Executive Director, Wimpie Kruger said the move was also in line with the Directorate’s preparations for the World Cup and beyond.

“We have built an Integrated Centralised Control Tower at the South End Fire Station, which includes CCTV cameras at various points, to further improve service delivery,” he says, adding that a budget of almost R16-million was used to purchase these vehicles.
