Group E is in focus today, and having profiled young talent from Groups A-D, we now look at highly-talented Frenchman Paul Pogba, who will be looking to take his scintillating club form onto the world stage.
Young Frenchman Paul Pogba is now a seasoned campaigner in Europe, and one of the continent’s most prized possessions. His dazzling displays for multiple champions Juventus have left Manchester United fans scratching their heads over how this gem slipped through their ranks.
United saw the youngster’s obvious talent when he was just 16, signing him to their youth academy in 2009. Yet after just three senior appearances, Pogba was snapped up by Juventus two years ago and has since set Serie A alight with his excellent technique, deft touches and venomous strikes from range. The powerful midfielder is skilful and creative, and always rises to the occasion when it matters most. A two-time Scudetto winner with the Old Lady, the 21 year-old received the 2013 Golden Boy award, given to the best Under-21 player in Europe.
After captaining the French Under-20 team to their first-ever World Cup title, Pogba debutised for the senior team in March last year. He featured in six of France’s World Cup qualifiers, and is now a mainstay in the middle of the park under coach Didier Deschamps.
