Links: I've not done enough yet

Premiership

Links has made waves in his first full season in the Premier Soccer League this season, having played an integral part in City’s Absa Premiership title bid, where they currently trail leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points.

The 20-year-old, who has managed four goals in his last seven league starts, has also earned himself a call-up to the national under-23 side for their upcoming 2020 Olympic qualifiers against Angola.

Reflecting on his campaign thus far, the Platinum Stars youth graduate modestly argued that his contribution is not yet worth writing home over.

“I can’t say I’m not happy but, personally, I think I can still score more goals if I can be more direct, and that’s what I need to work on,” Links tells KickOff.com.

“So, even coach Benni always tells me, ‘My boy, you need to be more direct, because you’ve got space and skill unlike anyone else.’”

The diminutive winger has also attracted plenty of praise for his displays and has often been tipped as a future Bafana Bafana star, but he insists he has done nothing yet.

“I can handle the excitement because I’m not that type of guy who’s always busy [in public], as you can see, I’m always doing my own things privately,” he says.

“But now that I’m playing and stuff, everyone knows me now. But I don’t think I’ve done good enough for people to know me. I think I can still work harder, and I know what I can do so I still need to deliver more.”
