Its all over. Japan are out of the World Cup after a clinical display by a largely second team Colombia who go on to face Uruguay in the last 16.

88' GOAL! Rodriguez scores a spectacular goal, showing off fancy footwork to get around the defender before chipping it past the hapeless keeper.

83' Substitution Colombia sub their goalkeeper Ospina by bringing Mondragon. The 43 year old becomes the oldest player to play at a World Cup.

81' GOAL! Jackson Martinez scores after finishing off a Colombian counter attack. 

78' Annother attack by Japan breaks down, the reulting counter attack looks dangerous before a pass to an unmarked Ramos is intercepted.

76' An unmarked Nagatomo fires off a tame shot from just inside the box, which Ospina is able to catch a hold of. 

73' Ivory Coast have equalised, meaning that as things stand they will go through, as Konno takes a shot from distance which Ospina is able to easily stop.

72' A Columbia counter attack surges forward with three Colombians and only two of Japan's defenders back. Colombia are unable to get their final shot on target after  it's deflected for a corner.

69' Japan continue to search for annother equaliser. They win two corners in a row, the 2nd is taken short before Kagawa whips the ball accross the area without finding a team mate.Colombia happy to counter attack when they find the ball at their feet.

68' Subsitiution. Japan have pulled goalscorer Okazaki off and replaced him with annother striker Kakitani.

65' CHANCE A fast running Okubo connects with a good cross by Yoshida, but his attempt doesnt trouble the keeper. 

63' YELLOW CARD Guarin goes into the referees book. Honda goes for goal from the resulting free kick and forces Ospina to make a good save.

61' Substitution: Yamaguchi comes on for Aoyama.

60' Japan now need to score two goals in the last half an hour, without conceeding if they are to progress. 

54' GOAL Jackson Martinez scores for Columbia after recieving a pass by Jackson.

53' CHANCE Rodriguez whips in a wonderful free kick but Colombia arent able to header on target

45' 2nd half gets underway. Japan have done well to come back against Colombia going behind thanks to a penaly taken by Caudrado, but they must score again and go on to win if they hope to progress from Group C.

45' GOAL! Okazaki heads home a brilliant cross by Honda as they equalise on the stroke of half time.

44' In the other Group C clash, Greece are leading Ivory Coast by one goal to nil. If things stay the same, Colombia and Greece will progress from the group.

41' CHANCE Ramos crosses and sets it open to Jackson Martinez who's wide open, but his shot doesn't trouble the keeper Colombia

38' Kagawa shoots but Balanta gets his body forcing the ball out for a corner, nothing comes from the corner. 

31' CHANCE Honda's shot from a free kick goes just wide of Colombia's left post.

28' Colombia looking to strike Japan on the counter attack, but have not yet found success as Japan push players forward in search of an equaliser. Japan will have to be careful not to be caught out and go 2 -0 behind in this game that they must win to progress.

24' CHANCE Kagawa cuts inside and takes a low shot forcing Ospina to dive low and to his right, parrying the ball out for a corner.

21’ Japan get a free kick in a dangerous position, but the delivery by Honda is hit straight into the Colombia wall.

19' KJapan with annother corner, they will be searching for a goal after conceeding early on thanks to a penalty. 

17' GOAL! Caudrado goes low and right and scores! COL1-0JPN

16' PENALTY! To Colombia after Aoyoma's challenge earns him a yellow.

14' CHANCE long shot by Japan is deflected off a Colombian player just over the bar. Japan take a quick corner short, Hasebe takes a tame shot. Japan looking dangerous at this stage.


11' Corner for Japan, after Valdes heads away a searching Japanese long ball. Japan are unable to make use of their first corner of the evening.

9' CHANCE Okubo recieves a long ball in the penalty area. He spins before trying to pass to a teamate, but finds no one.

8’ Although they have yet to trouble Columbia, Japan are beginning to assert themselves in midfield. The game has yet to have a decent chance

5’ Free kick in a promising position for Japan, but the ball goes only as far as the wall.

3' Colomnia controlling the early play, but not able to pierce the Jappenese defence yet. Japan must win this game to stand a chance of progressing.
