However, Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena remains doubtful for the trip to Freetown to contest their third 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game on Saturday, due to a knee injury.
Fransman was stretchered off the field on Saturday during the qualifier against Equatorial Guinea at Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium after colliding with an opposition striker while Mokoena hobbled off the field with a knee injury. Safa media officer Sifiso Cele confirmed that Fransman resumed training this morning in Pretoria, but said that Mokoena had been given another day off for further treatment on his injury.
“Fransman was only allowed to do light training. Our medical team advised Mokoena to miss training to allow his injury to heal. The medics will make further assessments on the two, but there are positive signs that they will both recover in time for the trip to Sierra Leone.”
Bafana manager Sipho Nkumane is currently in Sierra Leone conducting an inspection on the accommodation and the food available before the South Africans’ arrival tomorrow.
