Ronaldo enjoyed an incredible 2016, netting 48 goals for club and country, helping Los Blancos to Champions League glory while captaining Portugal to Euro 2016 success.

He now has four Ballon d’Or trophies to his name, one behind perennial rival Lionel Messi.

As expected, Messi came in at number two with Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann third, with Barcelona duo Luis Suarez and Neymar rounding off the top five.
