Four for Ronaldo as Real hit seven

It was only 1-0 at half-time after Pepe opened the scoring with a header from Isco's delivery but Zidedine Zidane's side turned on the style in the second half.

One man in particular was the star of the show. Ronaldo scored his first with a thumping effort from long-range in the 50th minute and got his brace with a powerul and pinpoint free-kick in the 58th minute.

Ronaldo sealed his hat-trick with a tap-in from Isco's low cross in the 65th minute and then powered home a header from Jese Rodriguez's corner to complete his quadruple in the 76th minute.

Two minutes later Rodriguez got the goal he deserved with a fine finish from inside the area before Gareth Bale put further gloss on the scoreline with a neat drive from the edge of the area – his 12th goal in his last nine appearances in his first game back from injury.

Ronaldo is now two goals ahead of Barcelona's Luis Suarez on the top scorer's chart with 27 La Liga goals. In all competitions, Ronaldo has 24 goals and 10 assists in his last 20 appearances.
