Papy Faty resurfaces at Chiefs

News

The Burundian midfielder was earlier reported to have retired from football due to his heart condition after short stint with National First Division side Real Kings.

However, Faty has bounced back after he scored the winning goal when his side beat Mbabane Highlanders 1-0 in a league match played at the Somhlolo Stadium in Mbabane on Saturday.

Chiefs spokesperson, Lungile Dube, told the Swazi Observer that Faty has been cleared to play football in the Mountain Kingdom, despite his medical conditions related to heart complications.

“We knew about Faty’s heart condition before we offered him a contract. We followed all procedures and precautions before he put pen to paper to ensure he was not a health risk by playing football,” said Dube.

Malanti Chiefs has signed a host of ex-PSL players in the past, including Phumlani Mkhize, Junior Khanye and Benedict Vilakazi.
