FC AK confident of gaining promotion

Petersen adds that there is only a remote chance that they will be releasing players although they are aiming to sign three more players ahead of their bid to achieve their dream of promotion to the PSL.

The Azziz Kara-owned team regroups on Monday as the First Division has not been forced into a longer break because of the staging of the Nations Cup finals in Ghana.

“I believe that we have assembled a squad that has the potential to get us to the Promised Land. The results we have been grinding out are testimony to that.”

The club that trains in Roodepoort, but plays their home games at Eldorado Park, enjoys a six point cushion over second-placed Dynamos with 10 games remaining. “Now that we have set the foundation it is about time that we work towards maintaining the top position that we occupy.

“Winning this league is a realistic possibility and the good thing is that the confidence in the squad is showing. Our coach Ali Khan is currently in Namibia on holiday but will return over the weekend to link up with the team and lead the way forward,” he tells Kick-Off.com.

With Charles Yohanne now playing in central defence and skipper Elasto Kapowezha pulling the strings in midfield FC AK is well placed following a mass exodus of players and last season’s financial troubles.
