Etafia has been in the country since July 2002 and has been at Swallows ever since then, which enables him to meet the minimum five-year requirement in order to be eligible to qualify.
“Etafia became naturalised as from of the beginning of this season,” confirms Swallows’ boss Leon Prins.
“We want to keep open the foreign space which is why we still haven’t registered any others as yet. We have three on our books now and will not be registering Hellings Mwakasungula of Malawi. We intend to release him from his contract soon so as to enable him to be a free agent,” explains Prins.
Swallows’ 26 year-old minder is currently in camp with the Super Eagles in Port Elizabeth ahead of 2010 Africa Cup of Nations\World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana on Saturday.
