De Sa promises more

Wits topped the log yesterday after beating Free State Stars 1-0 in an exciting game at Bidvest Stadium.

With 7 points already in the bag after only three games this season, De Sa has since warned his charges against complacency and urged them to continue working hard and keep improving their performance.

“We have started well and so far things are looking pretty good for us. However, besides the seven points that we have collected so far, we still have lot of work to do to improve and maintain our consistency.

“Rather than planning to win the league, I think we should be more concerned about winning our next league match and only count our points at the end of the season.”

De Sa also promised that his team will continue playing attractive football this season.

“This season I have different players and I have to play them according to their strengths. We have been more offensive going forward and are passing the ball very well and that’s what we intend to keep doing this season.”

De Sa praised new recruit Phikolethu Spelman, who is making his debut in the PSL this season and has already scored two goals for the Clever Boys. Spelman was on target again yesterday and his goal helped Wits beat Ea Lla Koto.

“I think he should have scored another goal yesterday as he missed one of the easiest chances. But so far I am happy with his performance because he is doing what we brought him in for and that is to score goals.”
