While the Covid-19 outbreak at Kaizer Chiefs has gripped the PSL, Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesele has given an update on his own health status after a Covid scare.

Malesela's last day in isolation was on Sunday after testing positive last month which forced him to miss the club’s last three games.

The 56-year-old was not on the bench for both legs of the CAF Confederation Cup against TP Mazembe along with the league match against TS Galaxy leaving Raymond Mdaka to run the rule.

He is now expected back for the trip to the Emirates Airline Park Stadium on Wednesday to face high flying Sekhukhune United.

In the two games that Malesela has overseen he has won against SuperSport United and then drawn with Maritzburg United.

"The coach is back after quarantine. He started training yesterday and by virtue of being at training he will then resume with his duties," Marumo official Rufus Matsena tells KickOff.com.

Malesela tested positive in the days leading to the CAF Confederation Cup Play-Offs first leg tie away in Lubumbashi forcing him to stay behind at home in Gauteng.

Straight after testing positive, he indicated that he was asymptomatic.

While Malesela has tested positive, gone into isolation and then returned the matter involving Chiefs appears to have left the league at loggerheads.

Chiefs have been thrown into disarray after at least 31 people at the club’s base in Naturena tested positive for covid-19 last week leaving them unable to fulfil their fixture against Cape Town City.

Chiefs have since asked the PSL to postpone the rest of their fixtures against Golden Arrows, Sekhukhune United, Royal AM and Maritzburg United.

The outbreak has left some of the Chiefs players and technical team in quarantine as per the official protocol.

The PSL is now due to decide on the matter of Chiefs not fulfilling their game against Cape Town City while Chiefs’ game against Arrows on Wednesday remains scheduled.
