Arrows on Wednesday confirmed the signing of the experienced midfielder from Free State Stars.
Larsen gave Venter his PSL break at Bloemfontein Celtic in the 2010/11 season following his capture from Garankuwa United.
Venter won the Telkom Knockout with Celtic the following season under Larsen before moving to rivals Stars in the second half of the 2012/13 campaign. In Bethlehem he worked with Mandla Ncikazi, who is now Larsen's assistant at Arrows.
Larsen is confident Venter will add value in Durban.
"He wasn't playing much at Free State Stars so that prompted us to ask questions if there's a possibility for him to come and join us," Larsen explains to KickOff.com.
"The clubs started speaking and we came to a conclusion and we are happy to have him on board. He's a player I worked with and Mandla worked with him so we know very well what he can offer us.
"As you know we keep talking about decision making, being able to have somebody who is versatile and he gives you that; he can play on the left hand side, he can play on the right, as a number 10 and he's got experience.
"Remember here we got a young team and sometimes we need that experience on the field for us to progress further."
Meanwhile, Larsen says Abafana Bes'thende may release some players heading into the new year.
"Not at this stage but there's one or two players we may decide in the next day or two to let out."
Arrows, who have not won a league match since September, will start the new year against Celtic on January 7 at Dr Molemela Stadium.
