Chiefs pull out of Kings Cup

The tournament organisers’ spokesperson Nhlanhla Mtaka told that Amakhosi had since been replaced by Bidvest Wits for the showpiece that is set for Absa Stadium in Durban on Sunday.

Mtaka did not wish to disclose the reasons behind Kaizer Chiefs withdrawal, but has since gathered it was due to a contractual disagreement.

“We don’t want to go into detail and discuss the reasons for Chiefs’ withdrawal, however, we did expect them to understand and support the nature and cause of the tournament.”

The draw for the tournament, which involves Thanda Royal Zulu, AmaZulu, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, will held at Riverside Hotel in Durban North at 15h30 today.

The games will start at 10h00 with the finals being played at 16h00.

Mtaka said they are still finalising the names of musicians that will perform intermittingly during the day.
