Carelse was one of the players that played an integral part in Usuthu’s survival of relegation last season, together with the likes of Themba Mnguni, Leonard Xaba and Dennis Lota, who are no longer with the team.
However, the Alberton-born defender hasn’t seen much action this season due to injuries that has reduced him to the role of a spectator during the team’s good run in the League prior to the festive break.
The 27-year-old star, who at one stage at the beginning of the season, was reported to be on Orlando Pirates’ shopping list, has confirmed to KickOff.com that AmaZulu have not talked to him about a new contract, but expressed hope that he may still be part of the team’s plans as he was not on the list of players that were put on transfer recently.
“They haven't said anything about a new contract. I am just waiting for them to approach me to discuss it. Everything is up to them. I am not worried about the delay in talk, because it seems that the team still values my services.”
Carelse is hoping that he will be back in action when the Absa Premiership resumes in February as he has recovered from his hernia injury.
“I should have started training a long time ago, but the doctors told me to take it easy and not rush things. I have been busy with rehabilitation and have started jogging. I should be training full time within two weeks,” he adds.
