Finnbogason stars for Augsburg


Augsburg 3-0 Mainz

Augsburg moved away from basement sides in the Bundesliga table after thrashing Mainz 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Alfred Finnbogason came up big for the hosts as he netted a hat-trick, scoring two goals from the penalty spot in the eighth and 34th minute respectively, while he completed his hat-trick ten minutes after the break.

Augsburg find themselves in 15th position on the table following victory while Mainz are placed 11th on the log with 27 points .

Augsburg will travel away to Werder Bremen in their next league outing next week on Sunday afternoon.

Stuttgart 2-2 Freiburg

Florian Niederlechner netted deep in stoppage time for Freiburg to salvage a 2-2 draw against ten men Stuttgart on Sunday evening.

Janik Haberer got the opener for the visitors in the fourth minute and Emiliano Insua brought Stuttgart back in to the game in the last quarter of an hour.

Daniel Didavi made it 2-1 for the hosts in the 83rd minute before Stuttgart were dealt a blow as striker Mario Gomez got two yellow cards in a space of four minutes and was sent off.

Freiburg used their advantage of having an extra player as Niederlechner scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to salvage a point for the visitors.
