Bayern cruise past Leverkusen


The visitors got off to the perfect start when they awarded a penalty. Manuel Neuer saved the initial spot-kick before the referee orderd a retake, which allowed Wendell to convert,0-1.

Their joy was short-lived as the Bavarians hit back in the 10th minute thanks to a strike from France international Corentin Tolisso.

Bayern then took the lead nine minutes later with Arjen Robben finding the back of the net with a superb volley.

The home side took control from then on, as they enjoyed up to 79% of the possession as they went in search of more goals, while Leverkusen were looking to hit back on the break.

Bayern were dealt a blow before the halftime break as Tolisso limped off and was replaced by David Alaba.

The Bavarians continued to dominate in the second half, although they struggled to carve out chances in the final third.

Leverkusen introduced Karim Bellarabi for Kevin Volland in the 76th minute as they went in search of an equaliser.

However, Bellarabi's game did not last long as he was he was shown a straight red card for a stamp on Rafinha in the 80th minute.

Substitute James Rodriguez sealed the win in the 89th minute, heading home a cross from Thiago Alcantara.
