Boateng eager for Brazil showdown

Germany edged European rivals France 1-0 to advance to the last four, while Brazil overcame continental rivals Colombia 2-1 to set up a date with Joachim Low’s charges.

Despite being pitted against the hosts, Boateng said he is highly motivated for their semi-final showdown.

"The whole stadium will be against us, which I guess it should be an additional motivation,” said the German centre-back.

“We will have a huge test in front of us.

"We have to go into the match with full concentration and impose our way of playing.

“I am highly motivated, I can't wait to play the game."

The pair’s match-up brings back memories from the 2002 World Cup, where a Ronaldo brace sank Die Mannschaft in the final of the competition, yet Boateng said revenge is not on the minds of Germany’s current crop of players.

"There is certainly no revenge, we just want to make it to Final," he said.

The Selecao will be without injured forward Neymar as well as suspended skipper Thiago Silva, meaning that Bayern Munich’s Dante could feature against many of his club team mates.

"I think if he plays it will be an advantage for both teams, we are looking forward to having Dante on the pitch, it will be unusual to see him on the other side," said club defensive partner Boateng.

Kick-off between Brazil and Germany is scheduled for 10pm South African time.
