The Wits goals were scored by Ryan Chapman, Sifiso Vilakazi and Sifiso Myeni while Marc Van Heerden scored for AmaZulu.
Wits had Kampamba Chintu red-carded in the 89th minute for a professional foul on Ayanda Dlamini.
In the 6th minute Ryan Chapman gave the Clever Boys the lead after a well worked passing move created some space inside the box for him. Chapman forcefully fired home from 12-yards out to give his side the ascendancy, 1-0.
After going behind AmaZulu nearly hit back in the 11th minute when Ayanda Dlamini met a Sibusiso Hadebe cross with a powerful header, but his effort on goal just skimmed the wrong side of the right-hand upright.
Usuthu continued to press forward in attack and were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 30th minute when Marc Van Heerden beautifully curled the 25-yard free-kick around the defensive wall and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net, 1-1.
The second half saw the Clever Boys come out firing and they quickly went in front four minutes after the restart.
Patrick Phungwayo slipped Sifiso Vilakazi through on goal with a defence splitting pass and the Wits attacker was clinical in his finishing finding the back of the net with a well placed shot, 2-1.
Still, despite not seeing much of the ball in the second 45 AmaZulu nearly hit back in the 62nd minute when Dlamini was on the end of a Van Heerden cross, but he saw his header strike the woodwork and bounce away from danger.
Nonetheless, Sifiso Myeni compounded Usuthu’s problems when he scored his side’s third goal in the 70th minute concluding a great passing movement with a deadly finish from 12-yards out, 3-1.
Sadly, for Wits’ coach Roger De Sa he saw his side’s great performance marred by a red card when Kampamba Chintu was sent from the field for a professional foul on Dlamini in the dying seconds of the match.
