Masilela's Maccabi Haifa had pipped Fransman's Hapoel Tel Aviv to the League championship last week and were going for the ‘Double’, but were denied by a magnificent second-minute goal from Salim Toama. Toama scored with an excellent volley to put his side in front and Haifa were unable to find an equaliser for the remainder of the game. It is Hapoel’s 14th State Cup win, still eight behind their city rivals Maccabi Tel Aviv, who have 22 titles. Fransman’s coach, Eli Gutman, announced he would be leaving the team after the match and, with the Bafana Bafana centre-back also considering his options in Europe, he might not be back to defend the title either. Both Fransman and Masilela will now meet up with the Bafana squad that is preparing for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Cairo on June 5.
