Barker: We need three points against Ajax

While other teams were battling it out in the Telkom Knockout last weekend, AmaTuks played a friendly against Polokwane City ahead of their training schedule this week.

“We won the match by a 4-0 margin but it is not the result that matters,” Barker tells

“More importantly, the match gave us an opportunity to assess our technical abilities ahead of the resumption of the League.”

On how he will approach the match against Ajax, Barker is choosing to play his cards to his chest: “We will play our normal game against Ajax.

“What is vital is for us to collect three points from that match so we will go onto the field with this mentality.

“We won our last two matches and I want us to make it three in a row. We must start to build some momentum by winning as many matches as possible,” he says.

“Our rhythm was distracted when our match against Orlando Pirates was postponed but this is not an excuse. We will be going out for a victory against Ajax.”

After six matches, AmaTuks are 10th on the log with seven points while Ajax are placed 13th with five.

“I am happy that none of our players are injured so we have a lot of options going into the match,” Barker adds.
