Amofah parts ways with Celtic

Though details remain sketchy about the Danish club Amofah will join, it is understood that it could be either of newly promoted Superliga clubs SonderjyskE or Vejle B.

“I don’t have anything to do with Celtic anymore and I am leaving,” says Amofah.

Amofah who celebrated his 21st birthday on Monday while speaking to KickOff.com scored three league goals in 10 games for Celtic last season though he didn’t feature much in the second round.

“However, I am not bitter about anything because we talked and parted ways like gentleman. It was a mutual agreement between me and them after they asked me to look for a new team. I had a good time at Celtic and made friends which made the decision to leave difficult, but for the sake of progress in my career it had to happen.

“When Celtic told me to look for a club I suppose it was a polite way of telling me that I wasn’t in their plans anymore. I still had a year remaining on my contract, but I have accepted that I have to move on. I have my clearance with me and am already looking forward to pursuing my career elsewhere,” says Amofah, who has recently been in Europe on trials.

“I came back on Wednesday last week after having been on trials in Denmark for two weeks. The reason why I came back was because my visa was about to expire and so had to come back and renew it before I go back. There is something that looks promising for me in Denmark where I attended trials.

“I was meant to have gone for further trials in Germany and France, but with the way things are promising with the Denmark club there is no need to go to the other two clubs. Prior to Celtic telling me to look for another club I was thinking of going back to Ghana but fortunately I got a chance to try out in Europe,” he says.
