Amaglug-glug practice against Danes

Although Amaglug-glug has no chance of qualifying, the result will determine who qualifies between Nigeria and Ghana.

The national Under-23 team has scheduled a double header international friendly match against Denmark as part of its preparation for the last qualifier.

The first match is scheduled for Eldorado Park on Wednesday, January 30, while the second match is to be played at Caledonian Stadium on Saturday, February 2.

Barney Kujane, the project manager, tells that the game is meant to give the players international exposure along with testing them against rare opposition.

“Despite the team being already out of contention for a place at the Olympic, we still treat the game against Nigeria seriously and thus this kind of preparations.

“The game against Denmark will afford our boys international exposure, along with preparing them for the Bafana platform since we are the feeder team.”

On why they chose to play Denmark as part of preparations for a game against West African opposition, Kujane said Denamrk are also quality opposition.

“The coach wanted strong opposition and playing against a Scandinavian opponent is a difficult task. Already we have a host of our players in Ghana with the senior team and we would like to see more of that happening in the near future, thus the need to prepare the boys,” he says.

Meanwhile, a 21-strong squad that reports for camp on Saturday has been named for the two games against the Scandinavians who arrive on Sunday.
