KickOff.com broke the news last week that Agyemang was training with Inland Stream side Dynamos, but he says he is still not sure about his immediate future.
“I was training with Dynamos, but I have just returned to Johannesburg,” he says. “I am still contracted to Chiefs up to June 2008 and they are the ones who Dynamos will have to talk to if I am to play for them. Maybe I might go on loan in January because going for such a long time without playing is not good.
“I am sad because the move to Tunisia didn’t materialise for reasons that I still don’t know about up to now. But I’m at a stage where I have learnt to understand that your career has to grow through ups and downs for you to be a stronger person,” he adds.
_quote Meanwhile, the striker believes his native Ghana will easily win the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations which they will host, though he is disappointed about missing out on being part of the squad.
The 24-year-old was part of the Black Stars squad that did duty in Egypt in 2006, but is now firmly out of the picture with regards to national team selection due to his inactivity.
“As a Ghana player, I would have wanted to be also part of the team that will do duty at home. With us it is simple because I know that we will win that trophy on home soil. There is just no way that we will host this competition and then go on to let it be won by other countries,” declares Aygemang, conscious of the fact that the last two winners, Tunisia and Egypt, have been hosts.
“I am feeling pain inside because I went to the last finals, where we didn’t do well. But this time around we have the experience and players with the character to take the team to the winners’ podium. I find no reason why the national team should disappoint the people at home by not winning the Cup.
“People might say what they want but the fact is that our players are doing well in Europe and we will just carry on with that form at the finals. With players like Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Stephen Appiah and Laryea Kingston, we have the quality to destroy any team. It has been a long time since we last won this trophy and this is the best opportunity to do so.”
