Cesc left 'shocked' by Henry sacking

Henry was relieved of his duties last week after a tumultuous few weeks where he reportedly lost the dressing room due to his erratic behaviour with senior members of the first-team amidst their relegation-threatened form.

And with that Fabregas has opened up about the exit of his former Arsenal teammate who sold him the idea of building a project in France as he arrived from Chelsea as the marquee addition and senior figure ready to lead the talented but struggling squad.

"One of the main reasons in me coming here was that Thierry called me," said Fabregas, as per Marca.

"Thierry knows me really well; he wanted me to be the leader of this team, to play every game, every minute.

"I played two games under him so, as you can imagine, the plan and mind goes into shock for a few days.

"Above all, I believe Thierry will be a top, top coach in the future and, in my point of view, this is what it is."I am not surprised about football anymore."

Henry oversaw two wins in the 12 league matches during his three-month tenure.
