Afcon qualifiers: Ghana march on

Goals from Frank Acheampong, John Boye and Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew secured all three points for the Black Stars, despite a less than impressive display in which more chances should have been put away, yet the full quota of points leaves them well on course for qualification for Gabon 2017.

Group E leaders Zambia and Congo played out a 1-1 draw in their qualifier, leaving both at the summit of Group E on five points after three games, just a point ahead of Guinea-Bissau, who edged Kenya 1-0 in their match-up.

Botswana’s qualification hopes took a dent as they were pipped 1-0 by Comoros, leaving them third in Group D, three points behind leaders Congo who still have a game in hand.

Chad remain bottom and winless in Group G after going down 1-0 at home to Tanzania, with group rivals Egypt and Nigeria squaring off in that group’s headline fixture later on Friday.
