De Sa admits Ajax missed Prince

Nedbank Cup

Nhlanhla Vilakazi and Ayanda Nkosi scored either side of a Justice Chabalala own-goal as Ea Lla Koto knocked out last year’s finalists on their home ground.

De Sa admits they missed their main strikers, but did not want to use that as an excuse.

“We missed Prince and Nathan for sure but we can’t complain about that, everybody is there to play for Ajax and we weren’t good enough today and we’ve just got to take it on the chin and bounce back,” he told SuperSport.

“First half we had plenty of chances and should have been a couple of goals up .. but that’s cup football, you’ve got to seal it off, you’ve got to play 90 minutes and be on top of your game and we didn’t today, we missed too many opportunities.

“I don’t think we lost it on defence, I thought we lost it in the final third. We weren’t clinical enough, we weren’t good enough in the final third and we had enough opportunities to win the game comfortably.

“They had the legs, we didn’t have the legs because we’ve played a lot more football but they were well motivated, they got their noses in front and then they fought hard. We didn’t. We tried but it didn’t fall for us.”
