Klate praises professional showing

Nedbank Cup

The 31-year-old attacker got on the scoresheet four times as The Clever Boys beat the ABC Motsepe League side 6-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday evening.

Despite his impressive individual performance, Klate pointed at his team's efforts throughout the match after a slow start.

"It was important for us to put in a professional performance, and not take them [Magesi] for granted, which is exactly what we did," Klate toldĀ SuperSport after the match.

"We didn't start that well but once we got hold of the slippery pitch we tried keeping the ball and putting it into the box, and getting on the end of it.

"So a good professional performance from the team tonight."

Asked whether they could score more, the former Orlando Pirates winger highlighted the importance of doing the basics right and not allowing Magesi space to play.

"Ja, obviously [there was room for more goals], but we didn't want to open up too much in the second half," he added.

"We wanted to score more goals but it was more important to keep our shape, and have a good workout in the second half.

"[We had to] keep on doing the right things both off and on the ball, trying to pass properly, so it was important for us to be professional at the end of the day."
