Rusike relishing first PSL final

MTN8

Should he avoid injury or suspension, Rusike will get an opportunity to lift his first piece of silverware in the PSL when Matsatsantsa take on Cape Town City in a repeat of last year’s MTN8 final. The clash will be played next Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium, the same venue of last year’s final.

The former Maritzburg United forward has established himself as a key player in coach Kaitano Tembo’s side, playing more on the left side of midfield, moving from the central striker role. He has been able to settle well into his new position and he is still getting himself on the score sheet, with four goals in all competition so far this season.

Matsatsantsa will be banking on him, and their other attackers, to do the business in front of goal as they look to defend the trophy they won last year with former coach Eric Tinkler.

“A lot is going through my mind, I can’t describe the feeling. But it’s a happy feeling. As a footballer, you want to win something,” Rusike tells KickOff.com.

“When I left Maritzburg, they went to the [Nedbank Cup] final and you feel like ‘if I was there I was going to do something for them’. But God has his own ways and he was waiting for me to be in this final. I just can’t wait for the final to come and just do my best to get the medal.”
