Vila unconcerned with goal drought

Mamelodi Sundowns

The Bafana Bafana international has made seven appearances in the Absa Premiership this season and he is yet to open his account.

However, Vilakazi was named Man of the Match as Sundowns recorded a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday.

"It was a very tough game against Golden Arrows. They gave us a good fight as you can see in the first half we played against the wind. So we were struggling a bit to get hold of the ball so one chance through a set-piece we were able to get there,"Vilakazi told SuperSport TV after the match.

"It was a tough performance. It was a well worth victory and we will take it from here. Personally it was a fair game for myself and it would have been nice to get a goal. But we have to keep pushing. You have to go through the tough times, you have to go through challenges where I haven't scored up to so far.

"I will keep on pushing and somewhere somehow it's going to open up and once it opens up the goals will keep on coming."

'Vila', as the player is fondly known, also thanked the Masandawana fans who came out in their numbers to support the team away from home.

"It's amazing coming to a packed stadium like this with the fans coming to support us we really appreciate it. We would like to thank them. It was amazing to play in such a packed stadium, it's so encouraging and we will keep on pushing for them."
