Mosimane: Mphela's agent is stressing us out

Mamelodi Sundowns

Speculation has been rife that Mphela is headed for the exit door at Chloorkop, after his agent Glyn Binkin suggested that the Brits born striker would not renew his contract with the Brazilians.

Mphela’s contract is up at the end of this season.

Despite not seeing much action this season, Mphela restored his reputation as one of the best strikers in the country when he came off the bench to score a classy brace during his team’s 7-1 win over AmaZulu last night.

Mosimane says Binkin has been causing the club stress regarding Mphela’s future at Chloorkop.

“The agent has been putting too much stress on us about the issue of renewing the contract,” Mosimane says.

“We all know that Katlego’s contract is lapsing but we are calm about it. If he wants to sign with somebody else, he must sign with somebody else. If he wants to stay at Sundowns and score goals he must stay at Sundowns.

“But he must be on the pitch, work hard and score goals. We like him here at Sundowns. He is a good player and we know what Katlego is capable of doing as a player.”

‘Jingles’ warns ‘Killer’ that he must work hard to earn a new contract at Sundowns.

“We love him here. Obviously we will renew his contract, but must play for his contract. Everybody in the team must play to earn his contract.”
