Pitso: Everyone's got quality players

Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns claimed the Premiership summit after beating Golden Arrows 1-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium last weekend.

The Brazilians then edged Maritzburg United by the same scoreline in midweek and will end the year with visits from Bloemfontein Celtic and Cape Town City assured of top spot.

Mosimane said: “Everybody's got top personnel. Pirates got top personnel. No, believe me they have and maybe you judging the scoreline [when Downs beat them last month]. They have personnel and they’ve got top players.

“When we played them you see how they gave us a hard time... they have personnel. Kaizer Chiefs have personnel, Bidvest Wits... don’t forget that they are the same team that won the league.

“SuperSport United got top personnel and it is why they went to the final [of the CAF Confederation Cup]. But, okay we play differently, we play the way Sundowns wants to play.

“We want to pass the ball and we want to have triangles, we want to have a passing pattern and we enjoy that.”

With inconsistency a feature across the board this season, Mosimane pointed out the team at the top has the biggest target on its back.

“We are also inconsistent. Well, I don’t know. I think you right when you say I have experience of knowing the situation,” ‘Jingles’ added.

“But there are two things when you are on top of the log: everybody shoots at you, everybody is shooting at Baroka now and you got to understand that.

“Two, the expectations are high. Three, the challenge you have when you are on top sometimes complacency can come and you need to be confident of course and know where you are, because you are a big team and you should be able to understand that.

“I’d expect that we need to deal with it right way.”
