Baloyi targets Tshwane double

Mamelodi Sundowns

Siwelele, who recently lost the Telkom Knockout final to SuperSport United, are looking to build on an impressive 3-0 victory over rivals Free State Stars last weekend.

"First of all it was about getting results after what happened in Durban [Telkom Knockout final]," Baloyi tells

"So on Sunday [against Stars] we wanted to make sure our supporters are happy because everywhere we play they come support us. So we are happy with the weekend’s win, especially me as this was my first Free State derby. I even managed to score a goal, I think that was a good achievement for me."

Celtic will take on Sundowns before concluding 2017 with a visit of SuperSport at Dr Molemela Stadium on December 20.

'Sheriff' is determined to help his side claim maximum points against the two Tshwane giants.

"In the Sundowns game we are looking to go there and fight because we are only left with two games before the Christmas break. So the derby win will help us to go there with confidence, even though we will take it one game at a time. We are now focused on the Sundowns game.

"Sunday's win must not make us think we've now arrived, that's in the past now. After Sundowns we will focus on SuperSport. Before Christmas we want to find ourselves in the top eight. I think our fans will be happy if they see us winning those two games, especially if we can be able to get the whole six points because we couldn't give them a Christmas party when we failed to win the cup.

"So the least we can do is to win both games for them. Sundowns is a team that uses their chances but as a player you automatically get motivated when facing big teams like Sundowns, Chiefs and Pirates. We know we have to double the effort to beat those three teams.”

The former Kaizer Chiefs man says the goal he scored against Stars has motivated him to push up more in future games.

"Yes, that's something I'm planning to do. Even if it's not in the Sundowns game but in future I want to see myself scoring goals for my team and create a few as well. Finding myself in the box now and then will make me score goals or create chances for the guys. I'm a midfielder so I have to create or score goals."
