The 21-year-old Ugandan international defender started training with the club on September 12 and, a week later, Baxter tells KickOff.com he is yet to make up his mind.
“We are happy with our centre-backs, ‘Tower’ [Mulomowandau Mathoho], Morgan [Gould] and ‘Masha’ [Tefu Mashamaite], but can we take one more who’s a bit promising and that we can work with, together with Lorenzo [Gordinho]?
“And that one hopefully could also double up and play as a midfielder. That’s why we are looking at Ivan, because it will solve a problem if we can get an all-round player.
“There is no decision on Ivan yet and if he is not the solution, then we will keep looking.”
Baxter, however, suggests it may take a while before he decides, because of the club’s tight schedule of travelling and playing games.
“We’ve had one session [with Bukenya involved] and it was a calm session. The players were not flying as we were preparing for a game and I saw him when we played six against six.
“He’s a big lad and strong. He is not bad with his feet; he’s been useful with his feet. I would like to see how the big lad gets himself around.
“Will Knowledge Musona be too quick for him? Ivan has been okay and he’s certainly one we want to keep looking at and make a proper decision.
“We will see how it goes ... we will try to organise a game where we can see him properly,” Baxter adds.
Bukenya is currently a free agent, so he is not restricted by the transfer window.
