Masuku ready to mesmerise Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs

Masuku is quickly becoming a darling of the Ghost with his silky skills, and he was the talk of town on Wednesday when Bucs beat Golden Arrows in the Telkom Knockout – both for his tricks and because he had a hand in three of Pirates’ four goals.

‘Bereza’ says he is ready to mesmerise Amakhosi defence when they meet at Soccer City tomorrow.

“I am not yet sure if will get a chance to play tomorrow. If I get that chance I am ready to grab it with both hands again,” Masuku tells

“I am happy that I am starting to get little bit of game-time. I know what I am capable of doing and it was just a matter of time.

“I know the coach has plans for each and every game and it was not that he didn’t like me. I have been waiting for a chance and I hope I will continue doing well for Pirates.

“It’s a big game tomorrow and the guys are fired up for another great victory against Kaizer Chiefs.”

Growing up in Orlando East in Soweto, Masuku confesses his love was for Amakhosi, saying he was a great admirer of Jabu Mahlangu while still a youngster kicking a pig’s skin in Tshabalala Street.

“It comes naturally,” he says of his skilful play. “I don’t practice it, it’s in my blood. I don’t try to copy or imitate anyone else, these are my own skills that I do on the field of play.”

Masuku says Bucs are looking forward to another victory over the Glamour Boys, after beating them over two legs in the MTN8 semi-finals at the end of September.

“We are not focusing on the Champions League Final but on the game on Saturday. We are on top, our victory against Esperance has given us more confidence as a team.”
