Last season the Bafana Bafana defender missed the first 10 League matches, as he was dogged by injury and appendicitis since his return from Europe.
In the end he managed to make 19 starts in all competitions.
This season, however, Masilela seems to have put his injury worries behind him, turning out for Chiefs and the national team, and looks set to play more games for Amakhosi this season.
“Tsepo’s knee is holding up ... I think he’s just standing up amazingly well and I’m very pleased because he’s a fine player,” Baxter says.
“I think if his knees had stood up better when he was abroad, he would have probably gone on to be a lot more successful than he was.”
The 28-year-old turned out for Israel’s Maccabi Haifa and Spain’s Getafe during his five years in Europe from 2007 to 2012.
