Tlemo: Jomo is serving humble pie

GladAfrica Championship

Jomo Cosmos legend Collen Tlemo says club boss Jomo Sono is serving humble pie right now to the doubters who have been writing the club off.

Tlemo believes the soccer legend's experience when it comes to gaining promotion to the top tier will give Ezenkosi a much-needed advantage over other GladAfrica Championship sides.

Cosmos are currently tied on 16 points with Sekhukhune United and JDR Stars at the top of the league table after 10 games played.

After several years in the first tier, many Cosmos fans are hoping this could be the year the team returns to the top-flight.

"J is one person that is very clever broer," Tlemo tells

"People can count him out and think that maybe he is down and out, but I know he is very streetwise. To put it right, people who were labelling him a relegation candidate are eating humble pie right now.

"Let's give him a chance. If he doesn't stay there on top for the rest of the season, the playoffs are another chance for him to get promoted. My advice to them in order to remove the pressure from their shoulders is to get a win in each and every game, especially at home.

"The team will also needs a plan B on what it is they are going to do if the chips are down. To be promoted to the Premiership you don't need to play beautiful football, you just need to grind out results. Cosmos' secret has always been a strong defence."

Tlemo admits that being a selling club has derailed Ezenkosi from being promoted to the PSL all these years.

"Yes I agree with that because like the likes of Bayern Munich, they believe in youngsters. For example if the likes of Thabang Monare had stayed with Cosmos, the club would be in the PSL by now. I know sometimes the problem is the budget."
