'I will be a Chelsea player on 1 July'

Morocco international Hakim Ziyech insists he will still join Chelsea in July, despite the possibility of the Premier League season finishing late due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Blues confirmed last month that they had agreed a deal to sign the Ajax Amsterdam star in a deal reportedly worth £37 million, which will be official on 1 July 2020.

Majority of football around has been suspended and there is no guarantee about when the Premier League will resume, although clubs are reportedly keen to finish the 2019/2020 season.

While the Dutch Eredivisie season was ended on Friday, Ziyech insists he will still be a Blues player at the start of July.

"I really haven't been serious about that for a second," Ziyech told AD.

"I think my signature is under the contract and so yes, on July 1, I will be a Chelsea player. I never had any other thought. '

"In any case, the question is when the countries will really open again and I can safely start there. And then there is indeed the decision on the league that is played there. But I have no influence on that, I will see it all by then. "
