Lekgwathi inspires Bucs newcomers


Orlando Pirates Lucky Lekgwathi has taken time out of his busy schedule to give a warm welcome to the club’s new signings. Check it out! 

What Happened? 

The Buccaneers have made a number of squad changes in recent times with Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Thabang Monare, Linda Mntambo, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Thulani Hlatswayo all parting ways with the PSL giants along with five other names.

Whenever many people leave, there is always an influx of new signings and Pirates have certainly done that by bolstering their squad with Evidence Makgopa, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Miguel Timm and Azola Matrose and many more.  

While Pirates have also confirmed the appointment of a new head coach Jose Riveiro.  

Wise words from a legend

In a recent post on Instagram, Lekgwathi gave a warm welcome to the new signings and appeared to give some words of wisdom to the fresh faces who will playing for one of Africa’s biggest clubs.  

There is no one better tasked for this role as the veteran the most successful captains in the history of the club, having won a double treble during his 14-year stay at Mayfair.

It has been more than seven seasons since Pirates won the league and Lekgwathi will be hoping that he can inspire the new signings to help his team reach the podium again.   

Did you know? 

The defender later joined Ria Stars in 1999, he stayed with the side for three seasons before joining Orlando Pirates in 2002/03 season.
