Wits learn last 16 fate in CAFCC

CAF Confederation Cup

Bidvest Wits have learnt their CAF Condfederation Cup fate following the completion of the group stage draw on Tuesday.

CAF conducted the group stage draw in Cairo on Tuesday, with Wits having been drawn in Group B, alongside Al-Nasr of Libya, Djoliba AC of Mali and Horoya of Guinea.

The Clever Boys will be competing at this stage of the competition for their first time in the club's 98-year history, after they overcame Mozambican outfit UD Songo with an 8-1 aggregate victory in their two-legged play-off fixture.

Gavin Hunt's men will now have to navigate uncharted territory as they look to emulate SuperSport United, who progressed all the way to the 2017 final before losing to TP Mazembe.

The Milpark-based outfit will get their campaign underway on the weekend of November 29 at home to Horoya, before an away trip to Mali on the weekend of December 6 to face Djoliba.

There will be no Christmas break for Wits, as they then host Al-Nasr on December 27 before a month break until they return for the return rounds on Valentines Day, 14 February 2020.

The group phase will conclude on the weekend of 6 March 2020, with the top two sides advancing to the quarterfinals.

Elsewhere, popular teams such as Enyimba of Nigeria, FC Pyramids of Egypt, RS Berkane of Morocco and Zanaco of Zambia also contest the Last 16 phase.
