'CAF should have sorted Chiefs' visas'

CAF Champions League

Orlando Pirates legend Edward 'Magents' Motale says Morocco were within their rights to deny Kaizer Chiefs entrance into the country, and puts the blame for the debacle on CAF.

Amakhosi were scheduled to take on Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League this weekend but the match had to be postponed after the South Africans were denied visas to enter Morocco.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) wants the game to be played in another country and CAF has since postponed the match and will make a decision going forward.

"I won't comment much about this because one, this thing of closing borders is not something new," Motale tells KickOff.com.

"CAF should have been the one mobilising this thing of visas, and the motherbody are the ones who should have facilitated this thing from the word go and arranged special permits for teams.

"I can't blame Chiefs, they've done all the necessary things and probably in time.

"Countries are sensitive when it comes to this thing of Covid, even our country the reason it's doing lockdowns is because it's sensitive about this thing.

"So we can't blame Morocco. If it's saying we don't want people from outside because of Covid, us also the reason we are doing lockdowns is because we are sensitive about Covid.

"The tournament bosses must come on board and help Kaizer Chiefs and not destruct them because they are doing well in this tournament."
