Bafana are coming off a disappointing start to their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, having played out to a goalless draw against lowly Gambia in Durban on Saturday.
They face Angola in an international friendly in Cape Town this afternoon, and the coach has urged football lovers to rally behind the team.
“We showed some willingness to the upcoming game; we played a draw against Gambia and that is behind us now,” Mashaba said.
“I’ve said this on many press conferences that playing at home is not a plus – it’s a minus as there’s so much pressure on players playing at home.
“If you look at all our qualifiers last year, we won most of our away games and we drew one or two at home. I think we need to change that thing of saying playing at home things will go our way.”
