Mtshatsha, the president of SAFA’s Umgungundlovu Region in KwaZulu-Natal died yesterday in Pietermaritzburg.
Mtshatsha, the former head of Natal Midlands football, first served as an executive in KwaZulu-Natal football in 1972.
He had been a non-executive director of the 2010 Fifa World Cup and sat on the Board of Governors of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
Mtshatsha was recently appointed an honorary member of Safa.
“It has not been a good start to the year for football in general," said Safa president Dr Danny Jordaan.
"While we are still mourning the passing away of legend John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu, we have now lost one of the most experienced brains in the game with this sad news of Mtshatsha."
