Bafana player ratings vs Seychelles

REPORT: Bafana move top with thumping win

Itumeleng Khune - 6

Khune didn’t have much to do and touched the ball only a few times throughout the match. Made one catch from a cross in the 66th minute.

Rama Mphahlele – 6

Mphahlele was a good attacking threat down the right flank, but his crossing was not very effective. Had very little to do in the way of defending.

Thulani Hlatshwayo – 7

Hlatshwayo scored with a cracking header in the 25th minute to give Bafana a 2-0 goal lead and missed a few opportunities in set-pieces later on, while his defensive duties were shelved for the duration of the 90 minutes.

Buhle Mkhwanazi – 6

Mkhwanazi also has limited involvement in today’s proceedings but played his part when called upon in retaining possession and restarting play from the back.

Sifiso Hlanti – 7

Hlanti was a constant attacking threat in the first half and combined well with Aubrey Modiba down the flank. Whipped in a good couple of crosses, and eventually picked out Teboho Mokoena for the sixth goal in the 90th minute.

Dean Furman – 7

Furman did well to cut out Seychelles on the few counter-attack opportunities they had, and neatly kept the ball moving when required to restart the play.

Kamo Mokotjo – 7

Mokotjo got involved in play going forward throughout the game and played a few good through-balls and ventured into attack to create threats on a number of occasions. Assisted with the cross that saw Seychelles defender Nigel Nigel head into his own net for the opening goal.

Lebohang Maboe – 8

Maboe looked a seasoned fit as he got his first competitive start for the national team. He was a constant threat down the right-hand side and got into good positions. Assisted for Mothiba’s 27th minute goal as well as Dino Ndlovu’s 81st minute strike.

Aubrey Modiba – 7

Modiba a thorn in the Seychelles defence and created numerous scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates. His set-piece delivery also saw Thulani Hlatshwayo head home in the first half.

Percy Tau – 7

Tau managed the most chances at goal, particularly in the middle stage of the match, but was frustrated by the Seychelles goalkeeper Romeo Barra. He continued to push for that elusive goal, and eventually found the back of the net in the 74th minute after being played in by Mothiba.

Lebo Mothiba – 8*

Mothiba impressed from the first minute through the last. He started out brightly in combining with Percy Tau up front and enjoyed a couple of early chances to get on the scoresheet. He eventually showed his quality as he impeccably slotted home in the 25th minute. Should have scored again on the hour mark but was denied in a one-on-one with Barra. He later set Tau up to score the team’s fourth goal.

Dino Ndlovu – 7

Ndlovu replaced Aubrey Modiba in 70th minute and immediately made his presence felt as he tested Barra with a shot from range two minutes later. He showed good presence of mind and composure to score in the 81st minute after being played in by Maboe.

Teboho Mokoena

Mokoena replaced Dean Furman in the 75th minute. Did not play long enough for a rating but did get his first international goal after heading in Hlanti’s cross in the final minute of the match.

Lebogang Phiri

Phiri replaced Percy Tau in the 85th minute. Did not play long enough for a rating.
